    Legal information

    Subleasing during BASELWORLD is allowed

In Switzerland, subleasing is allowed by law (Swiss Code of Obligations OR Article 262). When you sublet your apartment, you require the permission of your landlord or your administration. The landlord has to agree to the sublease unless you are violating specific basic rules, e.g. demanding rent which is too high (more information on rents is available in the chapter UMS price system).

    Liability

When you sublet your apartment, you remain responsible towards your landlord for the apartment and the house rent. Your sublessees are only responsible towards you.

    Position of UMS

Contract conclusions take place directly between the housing space providers and housing space seekers. UMS does not assume liability for consequences resulting from incomplete contracts or improper conduct of the contract parties.
